Overcoming Difficult Trials

Has God trusted you with His silence— a silence that has great meaning? God’s silences are actually His answers. Just think of those days of absolute silence in the home at Bethany! Is there anything comparable to those days in your life? Can God trust you like that, or are you still asking Him for a visible answer? God will give you the very blessings you ask if you refuse to go any further without them, but His silence is the sign that He is bringing you into an even more wonderful understanding of Himself.   Oswald Chambers

It is so hard when you pray to God and there is silence.  Maybe you think God has turned a deaf ear to your cry.  He hasn’t…. He knew the prayer you offered up BEFORE you even said it.

His silence is the sign that He is bringing you into a deeper understanding of Himself.  It is in no way rejection.  You are maturing in your faith.  You are not just offering up prayers for yourself and others, you are listening to the quiet voice of God in your heart.  This takes practice.

“Wait on the Lord.  Listen to His voice.  They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength!”

1 Samuel 3:9
New International Version (NIV)
9 So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

  1. The teacher IS always quiet during the test! I love that!

  2. What a thoughtful blog. Thank you for your insights. My husband and I are listening for that still small voice now. It is teaching us patience as we wait on His timing not our own. It’s a tough life lesson to learn if one is impatient to get on with the Lord’s work.

    • Ellie, I understand the challenge of WAITING ON THE LORD. As a teacher I used to pray, “Lord please give me patience.” Oh boy, be careful of what you pray for!

In my Christian walk, learning to LISTEN to His voice and direction took practice. The wonderful thing is that God wants a RELATIONSHIP with His creation and will talk to us. There is also the blessing of CONFIRMATION. Things will just fall into place.

I am taking a bible study at my church on the book of James. It is a Beth Moore study. Well, the 3rd video was last night and it was all about turning your anguish into joy. It also mentioned the scripture I just picked for this blog, weepingintodancing. Oh how joyful I was to have such clear confirmation from my Lord. It is spurring me on. It is my PASSION to encourage others going through trials.

So, let me encourage you. God’s timing is perfect. He knows you want to be used by Him and he loves a willing servant. Maybe He is just preparing you a bit more as you wait. I could not have created this blog without the brain tumor I was hit with and the recovery I am working on.
Keep me informed, I will pray for patience. May it be in HIS timing.
      God Bless,

  3. Yep… I am a retired teacher. I was always quiet…..
