Overcoming Difficult Trials

DON’T GIVE UP, DON’T YOU QUIT!!

Image

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
 When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow—
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,
It seems to a faint and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup,
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out—
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far,
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit—
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

James 1:12   Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.

Question: Was there a time when you wanted to quit but didn’t?  You can leave a comment.

  1. Reblogged this on shafiqah1 and commented:
    Amen <3

  2. too many times lately i have wanted to quit. just sleep and forget about everything. my body gets tired but God keeps pushing me forward. life has been hard lately for me but i am still trying

  3. I feel like quitting everyday partly because I am going through some fiery trials at the moment. Also, I want and work towards becoming a published author, hopefully a successful published author but I have no connections, no wealth behind me, I struggle to find gainful employment, I don’t come from any kind of salubrious middle class background and to top it all I am often unwell. It seems my life is strewn with cowpats from the Devil’s own satanic herd!!! Seriously though, Everyday is a struggle…

  4. Ms Terry,
I applaud your desire to get up each morning and face the day. God is, I’m sure, molding you into a magnificent vessel in which to honor Him. The furnace is painful but you will see the rewards. Hang in there.

  5. Mr. Childs,
I can so relate to you. I am almost finished with a book I believe the Lord inspired as the ten chapter bible study was written in only five days.!! (Revising is taking a bit more time) Writing is new to me but I am getting a lot of encouragement to follow through on it, including this blog.

I want to earn a living writing and in my field of education. Starting is hard. Sir, this is what I am doing…. Finish and pray over the writing and ask for wisdom. I need practice with submitting things to publishers, so that will be my next step. I will then look into self-publishing. As my financial future is very uncertain, it may have to wait but I admit… there is a new “pressing” from the spirit to get it published. Oh no, another test of faith and obedience for me!

I figure that if God helped to write my/your book, He will get it out to His people. It is up to us to be faithful, obedient, and trusting, in our perseverance to get the job done.
I will pray for you today. God is a loving God. May He grant you wisdom.
    PS
I am a teacher with 45+ grad credits working part time as a nanny. My other business has not taken off yet. Sometimes He will test our humility. Can you just try to get a job of any kind?

  6. yes Cheryl, and this post is amazing for me right now. Against all odds I just started a master’s degree. I know what I want =make a life here in the US; yet the road is hard when you are an international student. My father is tired of helping me (money), and I understand that, but I am not quitting on my dream. A dream God has placed in my heart. No one understands, just me. I pray and and keep going and I know God will provide for me.

  7. Good for you, follow those dreams. God will provide and bless you. I admire your courage and strength. What will you study?

  8. Thank you! Its a Master in Media Management. Besides school and no work, I am going through other trials, but I TRUST God on this matter, I know He has control and He is taking care of this. I know this year will be great, because God loves me and he takes care of us always, specially when others harm us with injustice. I have been through hardships only to be closer to him and grow in Faith.

  9. Ms Sands….. I know you will do well with school. I will pray for a job and finances on your behalf tonight. I would welcome your prayers on this matter as well. May our Father bless and keep us and those we love!

  10. Thank you Cheryl, that is a great blessing that you pray for me; I will keep praying for you as well! :)
