GIVE GOD THE CONTROL

PROVERBS 20:24                                                                                                         

A man’s steps are from the Lord; how then can man understand his way?

Why is control such a big issue in our lives?  Why is it that we can’t let someone else lead? Why do our defenses go up when we have to allow someone else direct our steps and teach us?

There are many possible answers.  First of all, pride is probably a factor.  We may think we know best or can do something better than our neighbor.  I would say that fear is a big factor.  Who wants to be led down a dangerous path after all?  Trust is definitely another issue as well as self-protection. 

Listen!  God has a plan for our lives.  He wants to lead us and He wants us to follow.  He has the big picture and knows all of the terrain in our journey, so it would be foolish NOT to accept Him as our highly qualified guide. 

Learning to adapt and be content are great survival skills.  Paul spoke of being content in all circumstances.  This is a wise place to be since contentment will robs the enemy of any leverage he might have in harassing you.  How can he have power over you when taking away wealth and security are not important to you?  To be content in wealth and in poverty is power over evil.   You all know this quote, “Let go and Let God” right?  I think it is pretty good advice.   I suggest you try it, Dear Reader.

PHILIPPIANS 4:11-12 (NIV)  

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.
