How Do We Please God?
Hebrews 11:6 (NIV) “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”
In order for us to love God, we need to find out what He loves. There are gifts that we can offer up as sacrifices that will greatly please Him. The very first and most important gift we can offer our God is FAITH. Hebrews 11:6 states that without faith it is impossible to please Him. It is the jump-off point into your personal Christian adventure.
As you head your way down the path of your incredible journey, you will experience times of inexplicable joy. You will be so overwhelmed with gratitude that songs of praise will arise from your spirit. Isaiah writes of mountains and hills bursting into song as trees of the field clap their hands. You will want to join in with all of His creation, thankfully praising His holy name.
How else do the children of God please Him? There are faith and worship songs to start with, but obedience is also a big way to bring a smile to the Father’s face. 1 John 5:3 tells the believer that love for God is as simple as keeping His commandments. When asked which was the greatest commandment in the Law, Jesus replied in Matthew 22:36,“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” How sad it is that God has to remind His creation to love Him.
When we are distracted with the cares of everyday life, or when we are struggling with a particular sin or hardship, we often forget to tell God that we love Him. Just as a child craves the affirmations of love from his parents, and parents desire assurances of love from their children, God wants to hear of our love for Him.
There are so many ways to show God our love for Him. Obedience and trust are key components to faith. By willingly offering God your hand as He leads you down an unknown path, He smiles at the trust you have given Him. When casting all your cares to Him, even though you are confused and puzzled, you validate your love for Him. Worry is a lack of trust in God’s character and goodness. Faith is being sure of what is hoped for and certain of what is unseen. Your confidence in Him and His provision is something He loves and accepts as a true sacrifice of praise.
There are no excuses allowed when it comes to forgetting expression of love and gratitude for God. We need to have a holy and reverent fear of Him. At all times and in all circumstances we need to have a thankful heart. When was the last time you trembled at His Word? I pray that your sacrifices of love and praise are acceptable offerings to your God and Father.
Luke 10:27 (NIV) “He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.
1 John 5:3 (NIV) “In fact, this is love for God: to keep His commands. And His commands are not burdensome”
Isaiah 55:12 (NIV) You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
