Signs, Wonders, and the Power of God
“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.” Psalm 33:6 (NIV)
“God has spoken once, twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God.” Psalm 62:11 (NKJV)
We cannot fathom the power of God. His strength is limitless and beyond our comprehension. He is the Almighty. His capabilities are absolute and invincible, unimaginable is His might.
With His words alone the heavens were birthed. He is the Star Breather! But stars are not His only heavenly creation as there are also planets, galaxies, comets, moons, and so much more. He is truly the God of wonders.
God’s love for us is equal to His might. Pause and think on that sentence. He loves us with a tenderness that is balanced by a powerful and fierce jealousy. In us, jealousy is sin. But since God is without sin, His jealousy is righteous and holy. He is jealous for you! He wants to hear of your love and longs for your attention and praise.
God loved us so much that He sent His only son, Jesus, to earth in order to redeem and save us. He became the Son of man and died an awful death on a cross. Upon this cross, He nailed all of our iniquities so that we might live eternally with Him in heaven.
Therefore, to the entire world God announced the birth of His son. Through signs, wonders, and miracles He communicated to His people, from His heavenly throne, that Jesus was born of a virgin named Mary. He set a sign in the heavens, the star of Bethlehem, for the magi to follow. There were angels, heavenly hosts, appearing to shepherds in the night sky announcing His birth.
We face many trials in this world, but with the power of God and the love of Christ, “we can do all things through Him who gives us strength.” Philippians 4:13
Nothing can interfere with the plans of God. The enemy relentlessly attempts to interrupt them, but always fails. No powers of darkness, no principalities or created thing can or ever will hinder God’s will. With this knowledge, we ought to be confident in our spiritual race. He has enabled us to cross the finish line, so long as we maintain our faith.
By serving an all-powerful God, we must hold fast to the truths and promises found in the Word of God. There will come a time, a time nobody knows except for the Father, when the church will be raptured and Jesus will return to earth. Scriptures tell us to watch and look for heavenly signs and wonders.
In addition to looking for heavenly signs and wonders from God, we need to pray for discernment. We are warned that the evil one will send,“False christs and false prophets (who) will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See, I have told you beforehand.” Matthew 24:24-25 (NKJV)
Like the story of the wise and foolish virgins (Matthew 25), we must …..
