Overcoming Difficult Trials

Worn? God Will Pick You Up

Worn Out

“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-32 (NKJV)

Dear Friend,
I know what it is to feel worn. Lately, I feel like I am running up Mount Everest. I’m exhausted, but I know God is my strength and will provide the energy I need to carry my burdens. He’s leading me to unknown places, but He is an excellent guide and I trust Him.

You see, my mom is not doing well and this has been causing me great concern. I hear the pain in my dad’s voice and ache for him; his burden is great these days. My workdays are long and there are not enough hours in a day to get everything done. Do you know the feeling of racing down a street in order to catch a trolley car but just can’t quite jump inside? This is a sure sign that life is out of order and that prayer is in order!

I was reminded that there is no reason for exhaustion. God doesn’t want His children broken and spent. He needs us to share the Good News! Therefore, we must take care of ourselves. And how then do we avoid this exhaustion and keep ourselves healthy? Well Matthew 11:28 tells us to COME TO HIM. So first we must enter into His presence and pray. We must then “learn from Him.” We learn and gain much wisdom by reading the Bible … the LIVING WORD.

Each day has it’s own worries and anxieties, so try to live in the moment… day by day. I have learned that by looking too far into the future I compound my anxiety into a mountain that isn’t meant to be climbed. This pinnacle of self-created woe interferes with God’s plan, including its execution. We are to step back from this self- made pinnacle and avoid our unhealthy urge to know all and see all. That is God’s privilege and honor.

A mountain guide …..
