Battle Bitterness With A Content Heart

Get Rid of Bitterness

“For I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bond of iniquity.”  Acts 8:23 (ESV)

I am learning that when I compare my life to others…. a spirit of discontent, insecurity, or even a root of bitterness and jealousy will rise up and attack me. But when I look around my life and acknowledge all my blessings and all of His provisions, a thankful heart comes into sight and contentment grants me peace.  I know I am blessed; I just have momentary lapses of memory.

People of the world say to me… “But your lost your teaching career, your dream house, your friends, your beloved dog, much of your financial savings, your health and yet you are happy? Why aren’t you bitter?” 

I reply back, “It is because God has been good to me!!”

Trials Are The Soil In Which Faith Grows

Trials

But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.”    1 Peter 5:10 (NKJV) 

 

Storms, Struggles, Difficulties, Hardships, Ordeals, Traumas, Sorrows, Losses, Attacks, Sufferings, Troubles, Tribulations, and Destitution…… are all trials that serve to mature our faith.  Indeed, trials are the soil in which our faith grows. 

 

Plants grow best a rich soil that is full of nutrients. Good soil helps to speed up plant growth and will enable them to bear large and plentiful flowers/fruit.  Good soil produces large crops that feed many.

So what are the nutrients in our soil called hardship?? How can we produce a bounty of fruit through the struggle we are facing or will soon face? What are ….

God Will Direct Your Steps

Some time in your life, God will direct you into unknown territory. He will most likely ask you to walk away from the comfort of routine and the known.  A door will open and you will hear God’s loving voice asking you to trust Him with your future. 

Stepping out in a new direction, on a different path, to a new destination will take all the faith you have, but Proverbs 3:5-6 assures you that He will direct your path.  He will be your guide. You may not see very far ahead of you, but you will know where to place your feet so that you don’t stumble and fall.

Do not lean on your own understanding when He asks you to walk down a new path.  His ways and thoughts are so much higher than your own.  Think about Joshua and
