Plant A Seed In My Heart, Lord

Ancient Olive Tree:Garden Gethsamene

Plant a seed in my heart, Lord                                                                                        WATER it, so I thirst no longer

Make the seed that of an Olive Tree                                                                            Steady in its growth                                                                                                        Fruitful, feeding many who hunger

Roots deep                                                                                                               Supported by the words Jesus spoke                                                                         While in the Garden of Gethsemane

Make me an ancient tree                                                                                               With a substantial trunk                                                                                         Patiently waiting for the Lord’s return                                                                                A quiet witness of Your noble worth

Plant a seed in my heart                                                                                                   TEND it with Your loving hand

Make the seed a mustard seed                                                                                      Small and humble but eager to grow                                                                             Quickly sprouting to an amazing height

Faith resounding                                                                                                             No doubt present                                                                                                          Mature in the assurances of God’s Word

Make me like Joshua                                                                                                 Who called upon Your power                                                                                          To hold the sun and moon still                                                                                            Trusting Your faithfulness

Plant a seed in my heart                                                                                                  GAZE upon it, a flower of infinite beauty

Crush the buds, enjoy my fragrance                                                                         Transform me into perfume and oil                                                                            Wear my love, blessed Savior

Make me a seed                                                                                                               Sow where You desire                                                                                                             I know I’ll grow… No matter the soil.

Creator of all beauty                                                                                                  Sower of every seed in my heart                                                                                                                        I praise You!

Are You Ready To Enter Into Your Promised Land?

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.” Joshua 1:1-3 (NKJV)

“And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword.” Joshua 6:21 (NKJV)

Joshua and Caleb were two of the scouts sent by Moses to spy on the Promised Land. The other scouts on the mission came back with a negative report, and put fear into the hearts of God’s people.  Caleb and Joshua were the only two spies who had faith that God would keep His promise to give Israel victory, even over giants! Their faith is what granted them entrance into the lands promised by God.

After Moses died, the mantle of leadership was passed to Joshua. The book of Joshua is all about “entering in” and claiming that which God has promised.  It is also about obedience and faith.

After crossing the Jordan River, Joshua spent 45 years leading the people of Israel in battle. They found victory over their enemies thanks to the power of God. One soldier of Israel was equal to 1,000 soldiers from the other side. Israel was mighty in battle because God was fighting for them.

Although Joshua was a great leader, he too had to learn some hard and costly lessons. One lesson he learned stressed the importance of rooting out any sin in his camp. In life, our actions and sins affect others. There is a ripple affect. Achan’s decision to steal from God, by taking some of the booty from Jericho, cost him not only his life but also the lives of his family.  Joshua rooted out the evil and destroyed it completely.

Besides actively entering into the promises of God, there is another theme found in the book of Joshua. It is repeated over and over. Not only are we to follow….
